Iradaa- the first incubator of Palestinian businesswomen-  organized a workshop on social and economic alternatives to violence against women in Palestinian society. The workshop took place at the Center for Rural Women’s Development.

The emergency response to reduce violence against women in Palestinian society initiative was launched in collaboration with Pal-Think for Strategic Studies and FXB France. The social and economic alternatives to violence in society workshop came as a part of this initiative.

The workshop focused on the concept of violence from the perspective of women based on national and global references. In addition, it stressed the economic and social alternative to violence as an important alternative to emergency response to reduce violence in Palestinian society. Also, It emphasised on the successful global experiences in reducing violence against women through economic and social empowerment.

At the end of the workshop, the female participants recommended that theoretical alternatives to violence stereotypes must be changed to practical application in the NGOs. This practical application will be through projects that address economic empowerment and Social welfare for women who are subjected to violence, threatened with violence or who are violence survivors.

Moreover, Iradaa organization stressed on enhancing the participatory between men and women in both Palestinian family and society through gender-based awareness campaigns. 

Furthermore, Iradaa added that feminist’s CBOs should be built-in effective mechanisms and methods to substitute gender-based economic and social violence against women.

As well as, Iradaa noted that pedagogical and educational curricula should include courses on raising awareness and increasing practice in the issues of reducing violence against women and promoting a culture of non-violence in Palestinian society.

In addition to launching radio spots calling for the reduction of violence against women in all its forms.

Finally, Iradaa emphasized the increase of activities in the Palestinian society, especially with the youth, on promoting and adopting a culture of non-violence as an alternative to confronting the violence that is widespread in the Palestinian society.
