28 Magazine has launched an educating initiative under the name of “Butterfly effect”, in partnership with PalThink for Strategic Studies and Qattan Foundation Child Center in Gaza, The initiative emerges as a part of the “Benefits of Nonviolence Culture” project, which aims to create an upscale environment and a violence-free life. The project is funded by the FXB international French organization.
With a fruitful audience of activists, artists, musicians, and politicians, the initiative adds a spotlight on the first month and impact of the passing of the Palestinian artist “Rim Banna”. Launching the activity with a live painting with “Mautini” folklore song on the background. Mahmoud Al Shaer, director of 28 Magazine, delivered the opening remarks of the event, with prayers and lines poetry for the past artists, in addition to expressing gratitude to PalThink organization and Qattan Foundation for their nonstop support to such initiatives. The event went on to the remarks of Omar Shaban, the director of PalThink, stating that Rim Banna was one of the fighters against injustice and supporters of Palestinian cause with her beautiful vocals, and thanking Mr. Al Shaer for the creation of this event, which in turn will highlight the Gazans voices and passion for art, life, and creativity. Mr.Shaban emphasized that Rim Banna is the role model for dedicated, stubborn, and undefeated Palestinian Women.
The initiatives included a variety of activities including the choir of the Qattan Child Center, a reading for the writings of Rim Banna, and a reading of the children stories with the child center. The highlight of the activity was the speech Zuhaira Sabbagh, the mother of Rim Banna, about her struggle and fight with cancer throughout her life, and her undefeated love for life till her last breathe.
