Using Drawings and Colors, Pal-Think implements an activity about nonviolence

Dina Al-Halaby – a graduate of “The Benefits of Non-Violence as a Culture and Instrument for Conflict Resolution” Project, held her first initiative. It was entitled “Within Colors and Drawings, Nonviolence Culture.” It was conducted in cooperation with the Holy Land school.

This initiative aims, as a part of the whole project’s mission, to spread nonviolence culture and to combat violence in peaceful ways, such as tolerance. Dina implemented her initiative successfully in the presence of 50 male and female 8-13 year old students, the school’s principal, and the teachers staff. She started by explaining the concepts of nonviolence and tolerance true concepts; she illustrated that through the drawings which reflected nonviolence in a way that is suitable to the children’s ages.

The initiative was mostly full of energy; the children were trying to figure out the possible interpretations behind every picture. Some pictures reflect types of violence to identify the children’s’ reactions and attitudes toward them and help them understand the best ways of overcoming any dispute using peaceful ways. Finally, the pictures were displayed after the children colored them; all agreed upon the main purpose of the initiative: accepting differences –the colors were different but-  beautifully harmonious.
