Amal Al-Sammak and Nour Abu Takia – succeeded in conducting their first session entitled ” Non-Violence Culture: Right Educational Methods”. Interestingly, Amal and Nour are successful graduates of “The Benefits of Non-Violence as a Culture and Instrument for Conflict Resolution” project which basically aims at spreading nonviolence culture and all the related healthy concepts within Palestinian society. It also reflects how could citizens combat violence in peaceful ways.
The session was conducted in cooperation with Youth and Environment Association in Deir El Balah, the central area of the Gaza Strip. After highlighting the project’s goals and desired messages, both trainers mutually spoke about the appropriate way of mother’s treatment to her child, particularly if a teenager. They further confirmed how this phase of the man’s life is really critical and they should recognize the correct, pedagogical methods to overcome some of his/her unbalanced behaviors. The session included an open discussion aimed at raising mothers’ awareness of the necessity of using constructive and positive dialogue to serve their needs in peaceful ways.
Finally, the session was concluded by several useful recommendations. Many participants asked for such educational sessions especially in marginalized areas to deeply instill this culture that would in turn improve Palestinian community at all levels. Interestingly, this project will extend for a year and target civil community institutions that will implement initiatives to promote the culture of nonviolence and peace.
