Workshop entitled “Nonviolence Culture to combat extremism”

Under the supervision of Pal-Think, one graduate of “The Benefits of Non-Violence as a Culture and Instrument for Conflict Resolution” project, Neveen al-Ghoul,  successfully held her first initiative entitled ” Nonviolence Culture to combat extremism “, in partnership with Toukan Literary Salon in Nusseirat camp, the central area of the Gaza Strip. The project graduates’ initiatives are  jointly aimed at disseminating nonviolence culture and other related concepts to bring about desired changes within Palestinian society.

The workshop was opened by the project’s coordinator who implored the project’s targeted objectives and its supposed role in enhancing nonviolence culture within Palestinian society. He added our need to intensify all efforts at all levels to spread tolerance and nonviolence values. Afterthought, Neveen completed by emphasizing that extremism is the first step of violence which generates anger and we, Palestinian citizens, deeply need to confront it in a nonviolent manner. She further defined violence, its forms and its negative implications on society. She added that an individual needs to start by himself/herself in order to contribute in his society’s change for the better. Finally, she confirmed that parents should manage their relationship with children and contain their variations. This workshop included several exciting activities that instill tolerance, nonviolence, control of anger and justice values.

Interestingly, this one-year- project also targets civil society organizations which in turns implement initiatives to strengthen and spread nonviolence culture and community peace.
